This week's program commemorated the Bangla New Year 1426. It presented the origin of two festivals surrounding the Bangla New Year: (1) 'Chaitra Shongkranti' observed on the last day of the twelfth month and the last day of the Bengali calendar officially introduced by Mughal Emperor Akbar in place of lunar calendar to solve the problem with taxation of the subjects, and (2) the Bangla New Year celebration 'Boishakhi Mela' on the first day of the Bengali calendar in the month of 'Boishakh' began then. The songs used in the program were sung by Bangladeshi singers Faheem with Kanta, Sadi Mohammad and Milon Mahmud. This week's program was produced and presented by Shamsuddin Shafi Biplob.
