This week's program featured an interview with Canberra resident Dr Abed Chaudhury. Dr Chaudhury is an eminent plant scientist. For many years he has been involved in rice breeding in Bangladesh in his personal initiative. In recent years, he has been successful in developing some short duration rice varieties for different agro-climatic conditions of Bangladesh. Some of his rice varieties have low Glycemic Index (GI), which can help to lower blood sugar level in humans as tested and certified by the Bangladesh Diabetic Association.
