This week's program highlighted the possibility of a major earthquake in Bangladesh. It looked into an article published in the scientific journal Nature on 11 July 2016 that warned that a giant quake may be lurking under Bangladesh. A team of scientists led by Dr. Michael Steckler from Columbia University in USA analysed a decade's GPS data of the region and concluded that a locked and loaded megathrust fault buried under the sediments of Ganges and Bhahmaputra rivers could unleash an earthquake of up to 9.0 magnitude. This week's program interviewed two experts in Geoscience Australia, the Australian Government's national geoscience agency, for their opinion on the study and its findings. Seismologist Dr. Phil Cummins and structural engineer and community safety expert Dr. Mark Edwards discussed how the megathrust fault threats Bangladesh, the expected catastrophic destruction of an earthquake and issues of addressing and managing such risk. The background sound used in the program was taken from a documentary 'Earthquake in Nepal' produced by World You Tube Entertainment. This week's program was produced and presented by Ehsan Ullah.
