Program Description:
This week's program presented a beautiful folk opera - 'ma, mati, manush' (Part 2) - performed by the group Notto Company in West Bengal, India. It was first staged in the 1970s playing the theme of people’s anger against the administration’s attempts to take away their land. About three decades later West Bengal's Trinamool Congress took the theme as their slogan drawing huge turnout in the politically volatile vast hinterland.
